Oh how I love me some Kroger

I have just decided that for the most part I am giving up CVS and Walgreens. It is just way too much work for me and my schedule. I can also get just about everything I need for a good price at Kroger and even Wal-mart.

Kroger is my new best friend. I used to love CVS but now Kroger has taken that place in my heart. This week Kroger brought back the MEGA EVENT! Not to mention they have a fantastic deal on gas deals right now. Every $100 dollars you spend earns you .10 off every gallon of gas. It used to be 10 cents total now it's 10 cents for every gallon! I filled up my van the other day for $28 and that was below empty! I got .30 cents off every gallon. I also found that if you have prescriptions there for every 2 you get filled you earn .10 more off gas and for every $50 in gift cards you purchase you earn .10 more. Kroger actually carries a lot of gift cards. Outback, Target, Kmart, Starbucks, Best Buy, Gap, and Home Depot are just a few. Check it out! Your going to be spending the money anyways you should earn something in return right?! You can max out at $1.00 off for every gallon. THAT IS FANTASTIC!

Here are my first 2 deals for this week. I am sure I will go back!

1st transaction:
1 pork tenderloin
1 manager markdown on apples
10 LARGE cans of Hunt's tomatoes
3 Bryers fat free ice cream (only 90 calories for 1/2 cup Lori!!!!)
2 Kroger brand Lite syrup
10 cans fat free carnation evaporated milk
4 boxes of swiss miss hot chocolate

Grand total before coupons: $70.34
Total after coupons: $20.43
Savings of 72%

I used coupons on everything except the tenderloin, apples, syrup, and hot chocolate. I also had shortcuts for a .50 shortcut for one box of swiss miss and a $1.00 off 5 cans of hunts. Plus I got $15.00 off for the mega event deals.

2nd transaction:

6 Quaker oatmeal
1 box of live active oatmeal
6 bottles of Welchs juice
4 bags of nestle morsels
1 bag of Romain lettuce
4 bottles of dial soap
2 boxes of general mills cereal
1 12 pack of Dr. pepper
2 boxes of hefty one zip bags
6 boxes of Tylenol PM

Grand total before coupons: $115.71
Total after coupons: $23.03
Savings of 81%

I used a free 12 pack coupon that Kroger sent me and a free box of live active oatmeal from cellfire. I also had coupons for everything else except the lettuce. I also got $15 off for the mega deals and a .55 shortcut for Trix cereal.

I love to see my savings add up on the bottom of my receipt.

I need to fill one more prescription to earn .10

I need one more $25 gift card to earn .10

I already have $184 so almost at .20

I will get my medicine and another $25 gift card on Friday so I will have .40 off per gallon of gas by the end of next week! I am loving Kroger and their gas program right now!

My annual savings since January is $1,864.33!! That is a lot of coupons!

Kroger

My last stop was to Kroger. I picked up some Purex laundry soap for $1 a piece! They are on sale for $1.99 and I had $.50 coupons that doubled to $1.00! I won't be buying smelly good things or laundry soap/fabric softener for a while!

Another Kroger Mega Event!

Lance and loaded up to head to Kroger for the mega event they are currently having. I recently found out it will run over into next week! I love KROGER!

Today I got:

10 Daisey sour cream
9 Kraft Bagel fulls
11 Betty Crocker warm delights

I saved $50 and have enough snacks and breakfast for Cameron for a long time! I also don't think I will be needed sour cream for awhile. Did you know that you can freeze if it your going to be cooking with it? It won't be good for using as a garnish on potatoes or things like that. You can also store it in the fridge upside down and it will last a LONG time. I have done this before.

All for $15.00!! I paid about a dollar a piece for the bagel fulls and .50 a piece for the betty crocker warm delights. The sour cream was FREE! I have more coupons and will be going back this week to get even more good deals. I am doing really bad with taking pictures for my blog so just imagine all the sour cream, bagel fulls, and chocolate cakes I got!

Kroger savings

With the mega event at Kroger the past 2 weeks I have been beside myself with savings. I have to say I had tried to use coupons many times before and I never felt like I was saving anything so I gave up. That is not the case now. I love to be able to share my tips and tricks and I love to give away things that I have to friends and family that may need or want something. I feel very blessed to be doing so well with my coupons.

While waiting on my husband to get home from work I sat down and crunched some numbers and would love to share them with everyone.

My totals for the Kroger 2 weeks of mega events goes like this:

Total: $590.53
Actual out of pocket: $176.30

That is a 70% savings for the 2 weeks. Going even further that I purchased 256 items which makes that about $1.45 an item!

I love numbers they make things seem much more real. I also have a love for spreadsheets and have been keeping track of all my store savings.

Here is the Kroger spreadsheet. I started this when I started doing coupons, so about 4 months now.

I shop monthly for our food. Meaning I make a monthly meal plan and shop one time for everything I need. I usually make a weekly trip for my deals and for perishable items or if I forgot something. My budget before coupons was $200 a month which was hard but doable. Now this month I spent about $60 for the entire month! I can really see a huge difference now.

THANK YOU COUPONS!

Kroger March 31st

My Kroger trips today were quite interesting to say the least. I made 5 transactions and found it was easier just to do 10 items for the Mega 10 deal per transaction. This was after I went through 2 transactions trying to do all 3 Mega 10 deals in one transaction. It didn't work right each time.

I had to get assistant managers and the store managers over to my checkout line because the deals weren't ringing up right. For instance the crescent rolls weren't showing as being part of the mega 10 deal when in fact they are. The managers weren't very smart and they were only including the stuff that is actually shown in the ad. I called the district and complained because of it. The poor cashier even knew I was right and they were wrong. I told them I didn't want the stuff and I would just change it up and that is what I did. I will go to another Kroger and try to get my breads.

This was one of the transactions that messed up. The Cottonelle isn't included in the Mega 10 deal but everything else is.

10 4 packs of Cottonelle
2 bottles of mustard
4 Gatorade
6 boxes of Texas toast
8 pouches of cookie mix

Total before coupons: $67.79
Total out of pocket: $6.83

Kroger trip March 18th

I think I did good on this trip. I didn't realize it but I got a lot of extra savings that I didn't know I was going to get. Kroger now has this shortcut coupons program. I had forgotten I had signed up for them but I got an email this morning showing me that I saved 2 dollars using the shortcut program. Wooohoo more savings! I also already got the coupons from purina dog food. You call 1-888-355-BARK and answer the automated questions and they send you a coupon. Well I got mine like 4 days later and I actually got a coupon for a free bag of dog AND cat food. Both coupons had a $7 value to them and the cashier didn't bother to actually check the price on the food and she just punched in what the coupon was worth so I actually had overage of about 4 dollars combined because the the bags weren't $7 a piece!

They also have all their Easter stuff 50% off!

A little bit of information though...Kroger doesn't double coupons on markdowns or clearance. At least not at the Ridgewood Kroger.

Here is my list:

2 packs of ready to bake cookies
5 bags of cheerios snacks
4 bags of Pillsbury dinner rolls
4 bags of Garden Fresh Salad
1 2 pack sippy cups on clearance for $3.00 (they were the platex Disney Cars)
13 bags Birds Eye frozen veggies
4 tubes Daisey sour cream
3 tubes frosting
1 bag cat food
1 bag dog food
3 bags cat treats
2 bottles Kraft dressing
1 bag of Tilpia
1 bottle of veggie oil
1 6pack dr.pepper
1 6 pack mt. dew
10 packs of kool aid

Total: $135.09
OOP: $46.03

I splurged on the Fish ($15 for a large bag), the soda, and cups.

Kroger trip 3-15

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to go to Kroger for the deals of the week. Lance and I went out this afternoon to get a few things. We just went to Kroger because I had shopped the other stores earlier in the week. Here goes...

I had 3 transactions because I did the General Mills $4 off deal and it was one per transaction.

1st transaction
4 boxes of nature valley granola bars

Total: $10.16
OOP: $2.16

2nd transaction
3 boxes of cheerios
1 box of kix

Total: $11.21
OOP: $4.57

It would have been better but I picked up a regular cheerios instead of honey nut so I lost a coupon. I could have gone back but I just wanted to get out and it was starting to rain.

3rd transaction
1 box mini pancakes
2 boxes muffin tops
5 packages of instant potatoes
3 containers of frosting
1 bottle of red hot sauce
4 boxes of curves bars
2 packages of butter
2 Kroger brand pie crusts
3 hungry man dinners

Total: $53.29
OOP: $21.89

Not too bad. I got a coupon back for $2.00 for buying 3 boxes of Eggos. I also got a $3.00 off my next bath and body purchase. I love the new coupons Kroger has been giving me when I check out. :-D

** You will have to excuse the Mickey Mouse TV on my kitchen table. My mom (who doesn't understand the NO tv in Lance's room rule) got this from a friend of hers and gave it to Lance. The DVD player isn't working so Pop had looked at it earlier and I just hadn't taken it back to the basement. **

Kroger trip March 6th

I had a great trip at Kroger this week. Lance and I loaded up and went after my bible study on Thursday. It was a long day and I didn't take a picture so I am going to try to remember what I go off the top of my head.

2 cartons of 18 large eggs
2 boxes of Honey bunches of oats
2 gallons of milk
4 boxes of family sized Stouffer's frozen meals
2 cans of pizza crust
2 cans of grands biscuits
Frozen chicken breasts
1 can of mighty dog
1 hillshire salad
1 box of freezer bags
1 150oz Tide
4 Renuzit kits
5 packs of bic comfort shavers

Grand total: $153.00
OOP: $66.66

I saved $86.34 in coupons! My annual Kroger shopping savings is $331.17.

Total spent at Kroger since starting GG in January: $843.53
Total saved at Kroger since starting GG: $348.75

That's a 59% savings!

I think I need to come up with a spreadsheet to save all my savings in. I have been keeping the receipts because I need to justify that what I am doing is saving us money and working. I am crazy like that.
